Open Mic Acoustics At Its Best!
Singers and performers in the Jacksonville area perform for free for the public on the lawn of Bull Run Park, outside the back area of Atlantic Beach's Adele Grage Cultural Arts Center. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. We move indoors if there is bad weather. No alcohol please. We routinely have over 100 audience members ranging from entire families to beach goers stop to enjoy the music and 20 or more regional performers who sing and play acoustic guitar.
Songs include Irish ballads, popular favorites, and original music by locals. Mike Shackelford hosts the event for the Atlantic Beach Cultural Arts and Recreation Advisory Committee. We host one Acoustic Night monthly, generally the 3rd or 4th Sunday of the month from March through October. The event provides a unique opportunity for area professionals and novices alike to perform for the public.
It's a positive group that attends and there is significant camaraderie and collaboration amongst performers. This provides the public with free entertainment, strengthens the pool of talent in the region and is making Jacksonville a musical destination. Thanks to the City of Atlantic Beach, their Cultural Arts and Recreational Advisory Committee, and Timmy Johnson and Karen Kemp in the Parks and Recreation Department for supporting this event since 2002!
